8 Irish Artists You’ll Want Hanging In Your Home

Choosing original art pieces or prints for your home is a very subjective and sometimes daunting matter. However, Ireland has its fair share of talent and it’s hard to look past the work of Irish artists when deciding on that special piece for your interior space. Below are some of my favourites at the moment.

1. Emma Campbell

Emma’s roots derive from a mixture of contemporary and abstract art - you will find her work right in the middle, combining these two styles together. Emma works with acrylics as her main medium, ensuring that each creation has an individual flair and twist.

2. Jess Kelly

Jess is an Irish-Mexican artist best known for her luxurious metallic fine art, creating signature pieces by building movement through layering and texture.

3. John Nolan

John’s exuberant style combines bold outlines with bright exotic colours. His interpretation of various motifs transmits a positive upbeat feeling. He features flowers, people, birds, fish, still life, collages, landscapes and more. He also explores colour in his abstract and contemporary styles.

4. Audrey Hamilton

If you’re looking for fun, look no further than Audrey Hamilton. Audrey’s work is quirky, colourful and will put a smile on any face that looks at it. She features animals, faces, pop art shapes and an iconic era series featuring none other than Mickey Mouse.

5. Ann Daly

Based in Clare and drawn to the movement of the roaring waves of the Atlantic, evening sunsets and dramatic seascapes, Ann paints with thick impasto oil paint with various palette knives. Ann’s signature art features moody seas, the beautiful reality of the evening light and contrasting the light and darkness of the ever changing skies and seas.

6. Éadaoin Glynn

Éadaoin Glynn is a self-taught Irish artist interested in abstraction. She studied literature instead of art and thinks of painting like visual poetry. She manipulates paint through movement to create luminous and vibrant paintings full of colour.

7. Eoin O’Connor

Based in Gorey, Eoin is one of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists. His eclectic style and striking use of colour makes his work instantly recognisable. His passion remains firmly grounded in creating strikingly vibrant paintings which echo his unique view of the simple things in life - including animals, landscapes and seascapes. Check out the 360 degree view of Eoin’s Wexford gallery here.

8. Ciara O’Neill

Ciara is an artist from Galway who specialises in contemporary resin art and jewellery. She lived in Australia for 8 years and got a lot of her inspiration and vibrant colour schemes from that climate. Her designs are inspired by the ocean and its many hidden secrets. Some of Ciara’s art can be seen in Brown Thomas Dundrum where she was commissioned to create 6 bespoke paintings for the store’s opening.
